Which “F” Do I Use? – Oboe Method Book
A common problem that I find with many of my younger oboe students is their overdependence on the forked F fingering. The issue begins with most students learning their oboe fingerings from band method books and only playing in the keys of Bb and Eb major. Once the student starts to play in other key signatures like F and C major they are still using forked F instead of regular or left F. As a result, this creates a very nasty habit, which is tough to break later on. Oboe players should be able to fluently move between all three F fingerings. This oboe method book will help student understand which fingerings should be used in each situation and why.
This book contains 10 oboe duets for teacher and student. Teachers should go through each duet and point out which F fingerings to use and why. By the end of this book, the students should be able to comfortable switch between all three F fingerings.
